I’ve been outside enjoying the yard and garden, although scheming to find ways to make the impact less on my body. The lawn has entered it’s annual “every other week” growth phase and we have a most fine crop of nettles on the lot next door. I’m finally recovered from our May trip and looking forward to the Chataqua festival in Chewleah in a month. Not to mention Auntie’s Bookstore in Spokane! This year we’ll be taking Allie, who will get to meet Opal in the back of the Flowery Trail Coffehouse.

The NY Times has a piece on the front of The Week section about the various “rules” Islamic terrorists use to justify their carnage. Not mention of the same misogynistic and holy book-based logic that Christianity uses to justify war, death and the spread of AIDS. One would hope that the Age of Enlightenment would at last usher in some forwrd development in the human condition, but no, we continue to make religious decisions based on superstition, power and greed.
I think I’ll go work in the yard.
