A Fall Sunday Morning
I began my fall and winter routine this morning for the first time this season: turn on the coffee maker and then fire up the wood stove. We were going to go for a bike ride first thing, but view west hid Protection Island and the rain was somewhere between fog and a medium mist. Those of us raised here understand these fine distinctions. As it turned out, we enjoyed rough-cut oatmeal in front of the stove reading the Sunday NY Times. We’ll go to Fort Worden and walk and have lunch in town around noon. Most of the tourists are gone now and one can navigate the sidewalks and find a parking spot.
Looks like our political patience is paying off, the pendulum is swinging the other way at last. It is heartwarming to watch the pathetic pretense of the GOP as it pretends nothing much is happening. It is a sad commentary to see that sexual behavior has more power to being down a party than the daily reality of men and women loosing their lives in another obscene American war.
